Too bad it won't let me rate 0 stars. We just finished our first and only swim lesson session and it was an awful experience. I taught 3-5 yo swim lessons for about 8 years, so I have a reference point for my review. My daughter is 3, and hesitant in the water but willing to get in. The first week, we had a female teacher who was so wonderful, very engaging, and kept the kids entertained in the water and distracted from being nervous. The second and third weeks we had a young male teacher who seemingly had no experience with young kids, especially those who were crying because they were being ignored and were scared/bored. He spent most of the lesson either looking at the clipboard, looking around desperate for help, or with his back to the kids in the water. I asked one of the lead teachers if there was anyway we could get the first teacher back and she acknowledged that this guy needed some training and then had the audacity to suggest that I should put my daughter in private swim lessons, as if my daughter is the problem and not the teacher. The final straw for me was when I watched him stand for over two minutes with his back to the pool while my daughter got splashed by the other child and he didn't even notice. She could have gone under and he wouldn't have known. I pulled her out early from the 3rd lesson and we didn't go back for the 4th. I want my money back.
This is a nice facility with good spectator room and a great pool facility. Parking is a little bit restricted but still usable.
The classes are pretty good but the locker quality isn’t clean, and the 2nd floor is extremely hot
If you are booking private lesson make sure to check who the instructor is. So far my daughter had Isabella, Alex and Ben. Isabella and Alex were fabulous and did a fantastic job. Ben isn't the best instructor, felt like wasted 50$ and time. Overall the pool service are great. This is my first summer trying this pool, it gets booked pretty fast.
Really nice and helpful people at the desk and on the deck. Super convenient location. My son got an assessment for his skill level and we signed him up for classes very efficiently. Great job admins and lifeguards!
Great place for adults to learn swimming!
I took swimming lessons here because I wanted to learn skills like trading water and swimming in the deep end. But their swim leagues are always using the pool with the deep end during class time. And stop using the excuse of Covid to close down the showers. Admit it's a cost saving measure.
The instructors are not the greatest, but Chris (manager) spent one day with me when he had a staff shortage and I learned more in 25 minutes with him than I did with his instructors. Oh and 25 minutes for a lesson is too short especially since the instructor is spending time coaching multiple people. You are basically splitting that time with other students.
The staff at Mary Wayte Pool are fantastic! Great community.
Love the deep water fitness class with Daniel and lap swim.
